A Month Full of Visits and Friends:

SOMEBODY SAY GLORY!
A few weeks ago, one of DownButNotOut Character First Board Members, Nolan Bernard, stopped by our gym. It was great to show him around the gym and all that the kids are accomplishing. After his visit, Nolan left us the following letter:

I let too much time pass between visits, but I’m so glad I visited. It was super inspiring to see Alphonso working with the group of young men. I’m intentionally calling them young men because even though they go as young as middle school, the level of focus and engagement was eye-opening and cool to see. There is an obvious level of respect and admiration for Alphonso, and it’s hard to imagine a scenario where he’s not making a huge difference in lives. Also, it was a lot of fun just being there. I’ve always been passionate about mentoring, and Mr. Bailey (as I still call him) always serves as a good reminder of why. - Nolan Bernard

Glory! Nolan is an incredible person who shares our passion for mentoring, and we are so glad to have him on the board and that he was able to visit. If you are interested in visiting our location and seeing what goes down as our DownButNotOut Character First boxing classes, we would love to have you.

GLORY!

Alphonso Bailey

Black History Month Celebration at Second Baptist Church of Shelbyville:

At the end of February, Alphonso got to share about Black History Month at Second Baptist Church of Shelbyville. It was an incredible opportunity to celebrate all that Black Americans have done for our nation and community. Thank you to the Second Baptist Church of Shelbyville for having us!

Reaching the Community:

Thursday Sept. 26, 2019
This week Down But Not Out celebrates our first full week of programming with Warren Central High School. Two sessions on Monday and a third on Wednesday were attended by 152 students. These students were trained in basic boxing techniques and are also engaged in mentoring by Alphonso Bailey. Please pray for us as the school year and this weekly program continues, and if you have the ability to support us, we are in urgent need of additional heavy and speed bags. Make a donation here.

Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018
Down But Not Out Communications spent time reaching out to the community at Indianapolis' Garfield Park block party. We saw some familiar faces and met many new people. Alphonso was able to speak to this group about achieving freedom though Jesus Christ and to pray over these individuals.

Mission Trip to Mexico:

Thursday, Aug. 2 - Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012

Down But Not Out Communications went on its first mission trip to build a house for a family just outside of Tijuana, Mexico. Our team came from the Marion County Juvenile Detention where Down But Not Out Communications operates as a volunteer chaplain.
